The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Prof.Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante has urged spouses of Ministers of the Church to support them in their ministerial journey in order to succeed in their carrier.
He said there has been situations where some spouses have abandoned their partners for some strange reasons. He said in such situations it makes the minister loses focus in his ministerial calling.
Rt. Rev. Prof. Mante made the call when he addressed spouses of Ministerial candidates on Saturday 24th July 2021 at Abetifi prior to their commissioning into the ordained Ministry of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
He said some Ministers go through frustration, and even spiritual defeat as a result of attitudes and behavior of their partners.
The Moderator said a times it becomes frustrating and worrying when church members and Presbyters refuse to accept postings and transfers of some Ministers into their congregations all because of their spouses.
“It’s worrying to hear a spouse of a Minister telling the partner that; you have been called into the ministry and not me”
“Let me tell you that all of you have been called into the ministry and that’s is the more reason why you sit behind your husband or wife during commissioning and ordination” he maintained.
He also urged ministers to see their spouses as partners in their ministerial calling and recognize them as such. “No one is more vital to your ministry than your wife or husband” he said.
