Moderator donates GH₵ 100,000 to UEW NUPS-G
The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante has made a cheque donation of GH₵100,000 to the University of Education Winneba branch of the National Union of Presbyterian Students-Ghana (NUPS-G) to support the completion of a new chapel which has been under construction for over 5 years.
The donation according to the Moderator forms part of the Church’s commitment to ensuring that young people of the church at the various campuses of higher education in the country get decent places of worship.
The Moderator made the donation when he worshipped with NUPS-G members of UEW Campus on Palm Sunday, 28th March 2021 at Winneba in the Central Region.
Thousands of students thronged the under construction chapel to catch a glimpse of Moderator of one of the biggest churches in Ghana at the moment and enjoy his sermon.
Preaching the sermon on the theme; Faithfulness and Sacrifice, Rt. Rev Prof. Mante charged the students to allow themselves to be filled by the Holy Spirit in order for them to carry out their duties as Christians effectively.
He noted that like a tree bearing both good and bad fruits, so people bears good fruits and bad fruits but Christians are urged to bear good fruits for Christ that is why he creates a boundary around his children.
The Moderator cautioned Christians to be awakened by the signs of the world taking place every day by hating all evil deeds that are mentioned in the bible as things that prevents Christians from receiving the blessings of God.
He said if a young person accepts Jesus Christ early, its helps to shape his or her life better and therefore urged the students to accept Jesus as their Lord and personal Saviour.
He said the founding fathers of the Church gave of their best and urged the present generation, to work hard by propagating the gospel.
The Moderator also made a personal donation of GH₵ 5000.00 to the University of Cape Coast NUPS-G to support them on a similar project.
The Moderator was accompanied by the Central Presbytery Chairperson of the PCG Rev Alex Owusu-Addo, the wife of the Moderator, Mrs. Florence Mante, the National Director of Church Life and Nurture, Rev. Mrs. Esther Oduro, the Central Presbytery Lar Representative on the General Assembly (GAC) Mrs. Stella Amofaa Dodoo and the Public Relations Officer of the PCG, Rev George Larbi.
