Institutions to promote literacy classes
in the Church.
(v) Review reports from Presbyteries and
produce summaries for submission to
the General Assembly.
(vi) Promote the development of language
materials for literacy programmes in
collaboration with relevant Committees.
(vii) Perform any other functions as may be
directed by the General Assembly.
(2) Committee on Basic and Secondary
Education
(a) Membership
(i) One Minister
(ii) One Head of a Presbyterian Public
Basic School
(iii) One Head of a Presbyterian Private
Basic School
(iv) One Head of a Presbyterian Senior
High School
(v) One Regional Manager of Schools
(vi) One member from the Committee on
Tertiary Education
(vii) The Chairperson, Presbyterian
Educational Foundation
(viii) The Director, Department of Education
(b) Functions
(i) Ensure the implementation of
procedures laid down by the Ghana
Education Service and liaise between
the Ghana Education Service and the
Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
(ii) Recommend for appointment the heads
of Presbyterian Senior Secondary
Schools and Regional Managers.
(iii) Encourage and help Teachers in
Presbyterian Educational Institutions.
(iv) Advise the Church on transfers and
postings of Teacher-Ministers and
facilitate their engagement with the
Ghana Education Service.
(v) Ensure that biblical teaching, Christian
discipline and moral character
training are adequately catered for in
Presbyterian Educational Institutions.
(vi) Ensure representation of the Church
on the Board of Governors of all
Presbyterian Senior High Schools.
(vii) Interpret the educational policy of the
Government to the Church and advise
on how best to implement it.
(viii) Promote effective and efficient teaching
and learning through monitoring,
supervision and evaluation.
(ix) Facilitate appropriate and effective
generation and administration of
resources for the institutions.
(x) Recommend appropriate Education
Policy for the Church.
(xi) Review reports from institutions and
produce summaries for submission to
the General Assembly.
(xii) Perform any other functions as may be
directed by the General Assembly.

(3) Committee on Technical and Vocational
Education
(a) Membership
(i) One Member with background in
Management and Finance
(ii) One Head of a Presbyterian Technical/
Vocational Institution
(iii) One Person from a Public/Government
Technical/Vocational Institution
(iv) One Member with background in
Technical/Vocational Education
(v) One Graduate of a Technical/Vocational
Institution in Self-employment
(vi) One Member from the National Council
on Technical and Vocational Education
and Training (NCTVET)
(vii) The Director, Department of Education
(b) Functions
(i) Advise the Church on the overall
policy for the running of PCG
Technical/Vocational Institutions
i.e. the mobilization, allocation and
management of resources and the
creation of new Technical/Vocational
institutions.
(ii) Ensure that PCG Technical/Vocational
Institutions are effective in the delivery
of services to the target beneficiaries.
(iii) Recommend for appointment, Heads of
PCG Technical/Vocational institutions.
(iv) Ensure representation of the Church on
the Board of Governors of all Presbyterian
Technical/Vocational Institutions.
(v) Facilitate internship programmes
that will improve the competencies
of graduands of PCG Technical/
Vocational Institutions and make them
employable.
(vi) Embark on advocacy programmes
that will enhance the overall image of
Technical/Vocational education in the
Church and the larger community.
(vii) Promote Technical and Vocational
Skills programmes in the Church.
(viii) Promote Entrepreneurship Training in
PCG Technical/Vocational Institutions.
(ix) Review reports from institutions and
produce summaries for submission to
General Assembly.
(x) Perform any other functions as may be
directed by the General Assembly.
(3) Committee on Tertiary Education
(a) Membership
(i) The President, Presbyterian University
College
(ii) The Rector, Akrofi-Christaller Institute
(iii) One Head of a PCG College of
Education
(iv) One PCG Lecturer from the Trinity
Theological Seminary
(v) One member with a legal background
(vi) One industrialist
(vii) One member with a Management
background
(viii) The Director, Department of Education
(b) Functions
(i) Advise the General Assembly on the
overall policy for the establishment
and management of PCG Tertiary
Institutions.
(ii) Interpret the government’s Tertiary
Education Policy to the Church and
advise on its implementation.
(iii) Interpret the Church’s Tertiary
Education Policy to the Church
Community.
(iv) Recommend for appointment, Principals
of PCG Colleges of Education.
(v) Ensure that Christian discipline and
moral character training are adequately
catered for in PCG Tertiary (Diploma
Awarding) Institutions.
(vi) Encourage effective interaction
and linkages among PCG Tertiary
Institutions and other Tertiary
Institutions.
(vii) Ensure effective Chaplaincy in PCG
Tertiary Institutions.
(viii) Review reports from Tertiary
Institutions and produce summaries for
submission to General Assembly.
(ix) Provide the Church with avenues
for influencing the development and
implementation of Tertiary Education
Policy in Ghana.
(x) Perform any other functions as may be
directed by the General Assembly.
