The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante has performed a sod cutting and ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a three-floor multipurpose hostel for the Ramseyer Training Centre (RTC) at Abetifi, Kwahu.
The hostel facility when completed will have 36 rooms and conference hall, lecture hall and auditorium, and is expected to be completed in 15 months.
The hostel facility is expected to improve accommodation of trainees and increase admission of the Centre.
Speaking at the ceremony the Moderator, Rt. Rev Prof. Mante said, the initiative was part of the Church’s efforts to increase enrollment, following the introduction of different courses at the Centre.
He said the Church was committed to improve infrastructure developments in all the training Centres of the Church.
The Chairman of the Projects and Investments Committee of the PCG, Dr. S.S Yirenkyi in a speech thanked the Moderator for the swift intervention towards the commencement of the project.
He said the project when completed would enhance academic activities and that the committee would ensure the project is completed on time.
The Moderator and his wife made a pledged of Ghc10,000, to support the project, Dr. S. S Yirenkyi also pledged to support the project with Ghc10,000, the same way the Northern American Australia Presbytery president of the Men’s Fellowship also pledged to support with Ghc10,000.
Later, Dr. S.S Yirenkyi announced that a member of the church who wanted to remain anonymous has pledged to support the construction of the hostel with Ghc100,000.
Present at the ceremony were the Clerk of the General Assembly Rev Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor, who assisted the Moderator, Very Rev Prof. Emmanuel Martey, former Moderator of the General Assembly of the PCG, Director of the RTC, Rev Buenor Pupulampu, members of the General Assembly Council, Ministers of the Church and other dignitaries.
