Moderator visits Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin at Kyebi

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, the Rt Rev Prof Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante has paid a working visited Okyehene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin at the Ofori Panyin Palace at Kyebi.

The visits formed part of the Moderator’s visit to the Akyem Abuakwa Presbytery of the PCG after his induction into office in December 23rd 2018.

The Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin in a speech described the decision by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to build a National Cathedral for the nation and also implementation of the Free Senior High School as very courageous and commendable.

According to Okyehene the benefits of free SHS is immense especially for the future generation and the development of Ghana.

He said education has the power to break the societal cycle of poverty in Ghana and Africa in general.

Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin commended the Presbyterian Church of Ghana on its role in the enhancement of socio economic development of the nation especially in the Akuem Abuakwa area.

He said contribution of the church towards the provision of basic and tertiary education as well as health and agriculture throughout the country since it was established cannot be over emphasized.

The Moderator on his part commended the Okyehene’s achievements in environmental protection, education and support for the development and well-being of his people.

He said the Presbyterian Church of Ghana since it establishment has engaged in provision of education from basic level to tertiary.

He noted that the PCG currently has over 2,400 basic schools, about 50 Senior High Schools, 5 Colleges of Education, 3 Vocational Schools, 4 Nursing Training Colleges, a University, Two Research Institutes, and five Training Centers.

Additionally, He said the PCG also has more than 60 health institutions spread all over the country making it the third largest provider of health services in Ghana.

The Moderator also commended Okyehene for his strong faith in the Lord.

The Moderator later prayed for Okyehene for long life.

The Moderator was accompanied by the Clerk of General Assembly of the PCG, Rev Dr.  Samuel Ayete-Nyampong, the Chairperson for Akyem Abuakwa Presbytery,  Rev Dr. Seth Kissi, the Lay Representatives on the General Assembly Council of the PCG and some senior Ministers of the Church.
