The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, the Right Rev Professor Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante has paid greeting visits to four Presbyteries after his induction into office on 23rd December 2018.
The four Presbyteries visited included West Brong. Brong Ahafo, Western and Sekyere.
The purpose of the visit was to greet the Presbyteries, thank them for the confidence reposed in him and elected him as Moderator and their presence at the induction service, to bounce by the Presbyteries some of the things going through his mind and finally listen to their concerns.
Addressing the gatherings at the various Presbyteries, the Moderator touched on three aspects of witness which include Spiritual Witness, Moral Witness and Social Witness.
For Spiritual Witness, the Moderator called for repentance, Discipleship, and Church Growth. According to him the population of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana should move from the current figure to 1.5 million by 2023. He therefore urged agents of the Church to allow church members to have proper fellowship with their maker during church service.
For Moral Witness, the Moderator called for Christian integrity in all aspects of our Christian lives. He also touched on discipline with respects to authority, dressing, talking, relationships, time consciousness and others.
For Social Witness, the Right Rev Prof Mante said the Presbyterian Church of Ghana is noted for its social responsibility; provision of educational infrastructure, health facilities and others. He urged agents to ensure that school blocks in their catchment areas are maintained and sustained.
He said PCG currently has over 2,400 basic schools, about 30 Senior High Schools, 5 Colleges of Education, 3 Vocational Schools, 4 Nursing Training Colleges, a University, Two Research Institutes, and five Training Centers, 55 health institutions spread all over the country making it the third largest provider of health services in Ghana.
The Moderator urged Ministers to live within their means and avoid flamboyant lifestyles.
