Rev. Dr. Seth Kissi has been inducted into office as the 13th Chairperson of the Akyem Abuakwa Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) in an impressive ceremony at the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Ebenezer Congregation at Kyebi on Sunday.
The service was officiated by the Moderator of the General Assembly of the PCG, the Rt. Rev Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante assisted by Rev. Dr. Samuel Ayete-Nyampong, Clerk of the General Assembly and the General Assembly Council.
Rev. Dr. Kissi, until his election was a senior Lecturer at the Trinity Theological Seminary, where he taught Greek Language and New Testament Studies. He succeeded Rev. Ansa-Peasah, whose tenure of office as Presbytery Chairperson ended on August 31 2018.
Preaching the Sermon, the Rt. Rev Prof Mante entreated the new Chairperson to, as much as possible; always rally members around in the performance of his duties. He reminded him of God’s calling to serve the Church at this time of his ministerial career and he should, in all humility, work hard to see to the spiritual, administrative and material needs of the Presbytery.
He called for the support of the Presbytery Council and all who matter in the Akyem Abuakwa Presbytery to support the new Chairperson to deliver the best for the Presbytery.
In his address, Rev. Dr. Kissi said he accepted the onerous duty as the Chairperson of the Presbytery in all humility and was thankful to God and to all his predecessors.
The New Chairperson said he would be counting on the support and cooperation of all constituents of the Presbytery in order to deliver as expected of him.
Rev. Dr. Kissi noted that there are many Congregations and some Districts in the Presbytery which are faced with many daunting challenges, adding that the Presbytery, under his leadership, would strive to empower all such entities to be self-sustaining and thus speed up the forward march of the Church.
He said he would work hard to strengthen the local congregations and the districts to be able to discharge their functions effectively. He will also operate an open-door policy to welcome all views.
Rev. Dr. Kissi is a Theologian Scholar from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, where he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master of Theology (MTh), from Trinity Theological Seminary (TTS) Legon, and Bachelor of Divinity, Trinity Theological Seminary.
