The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, has renewed a passionate appeal to the Government of Ghana to revive and complete the stalled 60-bed Accident and Emergency Centre at the Presbyterian Hospital, Dormaa-Ahenkro.

Addressing participants at the Church’s 7th Development and Social Services (DSS) Consultation Forum at the Presbyterian Women’s Centre, Abokobi, on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, the Moderator expressed concern over the continued abandonment of the project despite its critical importance to healthcare delivery in the Bono Region.

According to him, the project was launched in September 2020 when then President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo performed the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of the ultra-modern emergency facility. Six years later, the project remains uncompleted, with no clear explanation for the delay.

“We raised this exact concern last year, and we are repeating this passionate appeal again today,” the Moderator said, urging the government to remove the bottlenecks hindering the project and ensure its completion.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Opare Kwakye noted that the Presbyterian Hospital, Dormaa-Ahenkro, continues to face increasing pressure in providing emergency healthcare services, making the completion of the facility an urgent priority.

He explained that the proposed 60-bed centre was designed to significantly strengthen the hospital’s emergency response capacity and improve access to timely and quality care for residents of Dormaa-Ahenkro and surrounding communities.

“The completion of this project will go a long way to enhancing emergency healthcare delivery and improving patient outcomes in the area,” he stressed.

The Moderator further observed that the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and the Government have a longstanding history of collaboration in healthcare delivery and expressed confidence that the same spirit of partnership could help bring the Dormaa-Ahenkro project to completion.

He therefore appealed to the Ministry of Health and other relevant authorities to give urgent attention to the matter and ensure that the facility is completed for the benefit of the thousands of people who depend on the hospital for healthcare services.

The renewed appeal formed part of the Church’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery and improving access to quality medical care across the country.
