Keep Brigade offertories at congregational level
The Director of Finance, Alex De-Graft Hanson has advised that offertories collected during Brigade enrolment celebrations be retained at the congregational level to support the development of Brigade ministry.
He made the remarks on PCG Connect while responding to a question from an online participant who proposed that offertories taken on Brigade enrolment days be exempted from the Church’s percentage contribution system.
The questioner argued that exempting such offertories would enable congregations to mobilise additional resources to strengthen Brigade activities at the local level.
In response, Mr. Hanson indicated that the objective could be achieved by ensuring that funds raised during Brigade enrolment celebrations remain with the congregation.
The Finance Director emphasised the importance of investing in ministries that nurture children and young people in the Church, noting that congregational-level support remains critical to sustaining Brigade work.
His comments formed part of a wider discussion on church financial administration, stewardship and the implementation of the PCG’s financial policies. The programme provided church members with the opportunity to seek clarification on financial matters.
