Faithful giving drives church investments
The Presbyterian Church of Ghana’s financial contribution system continues to strengthen ministerial work and support church development across the country, according to figures presented by the Finance Directorate on PCG Connect.
The presentation revealed that total contributions and harvest proceeds increased from GH¢34.4 million in 2020 to GH¢95.3 million in 2025, reflecting sustained growth in giving by congregations throughout the Church.
The Finance Directorate attributed the improvement to the Percentage Contribution System, introduced in 2020 to provide a more sustainable means of financing the Church’s mission and administration following the phasing out of the previous assessment system.
According to the Finance Director, Mr. Alex De-Graft Hanson, the system has enabled the regular payment of salaries and allowances to ministers and staff, averaging about GH¢4.2 million each month. It has also supported retired ministers through medical assistance and provided allowances for widows and widowers.
Mr. Hanson listed several major investments made possible through members’ contributions, including ministerial training, scholarships, support for ministry in deprived areas, rural evangelism initiatives, congregational assistance and educational development.
More than 800 motorbikes have been provided to support evangelism efforts, while over 300 pavilions have been constructed nationwide. Other projects funded through the system include the establishment of PCGTV, the construction of the Moderator’s Residence and ongoing support for the Kutunse Project.
The Finance Director described these achievements as evidence of how faithful giving by congregations continues to advance the mission and ministry of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
