The Agogo Presbyterian Hospital in the Asante Akyem North District has been upgraded to level ‘A’ health facility which is equivalent to a regional hospital status.
The Executive Director of the Christian Health Association of Ghana, (CHAG) Dr. Peter Kwame Yeboah disclosed this at the ninth graduation ceremony of the Agogo Presbyterian Nursing and Midwifery Training School on Saturday, 30th April, 2022 where 458 registered nurses and Midwifery students passed out.
Presenting a certificate to that effect to the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, Dr Yeboah stated that the hospital over the years has been the center of training for house officers.
He also said the hospital has been the center for research excellence for the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), which has made it a pioneer and pacesetter in health care facilities.
Dr Yeboah noted that, there are other several secondary level hospitals in levels A, B and C yet the only child secondary level hospital with grade A is the Agogo Hospital. Hence effective 1stMay, 2022 the NHIA has levelled the hospital as a regional hospital where referral cases can be admitted. He congratulated the management of the hospital for coming a long way to achieve such success at this time.
Receiving the certificate on behalf of the hospital, the Rt Rev Prof. Mante commended the management of the hospital for coming a long way to achieve what has been the heart desire of the Church all along.
He assured that the Presbyterian Church of Ghana would continue to provide social services in the health sector to support the development agenda of the government of Ghana.
He congratulated the graduating students and urged them to be nurses and midwives with a difference. He also advised them to be disciplined, hardworking, humble and exhibit godly leadership and skills in their line of duty.
The General Manager of the hospital, Mr Alex Kesse said the upgrading would bring new life into the administration and service delivery of the hospital. He said the feat was achieved through hard work.
