Members of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (Globally) have been tasked to work harder to realise the church’s evangelistic and discipleship goals.
The PCG, founded in 1828, is the oldest, continuously existing church in Ghana, as Very Rev. Prof. E. Martey puts it. The church marks 200 years of its establishment in 2028. Several activities and projects have been lined up for the bicentennial celebration.
One of them is the evangelistic goal known as ‘Agenda Two Million’, which aims to take the PCG’s membership to more than two million people by 2028.
At the climax of the 25th General Assembly at Abetifi on Sunday, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the PCG, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye urged church members to go and seriously pursue the ‘Agenda Two Million’.
“We all remember that in this celebration, there are two flagship projects. The very first one is known as Agenda 2 million, which hinges on a discipleship programme that would ensure that we will not just bring people in, but the people would stay and they will grow in the Lord, and they will intend to bring more to Jesus Christ,” said the Moderator.
“As we leave here may we all go with something on our hearts on ‘Agenda Two Million’ to grow our church to tell a new story – that Jesus Christ who started with us in 1828 is the same Jesus with us and that as others come to join us, we will be able to make the Lord proud in our nation” said the Moderator.
