The Global Presbyterian Prayer Marathon opened on Sunday, 18th January 2026, following a spirited street evangelism exercise on the principal streets of Akosombo the day before.
Led by the Mission and Evangelism Director, Rev. E. K. Sarbah, the outreach saw participation from national office representatives and agents from Presbyterian congregations in Akosombo and the Volta Presbytery. Together, they engaged people from all levels of society with the message of salvation, repentance, and hope in Christ.
The street evangelism served as an engaging precursor to the prayer marathon, setting a tone of spiritual urgency and witness. Participants carried placards with messages such as “Repent, Jesus Is Coming Soon,” “No Name Can Save Except Jesus Christ,” and “Come to Jesus, All You Who Are Weary.”
The prayer marathon, themed “Celebrating Our Heritage: Building on the Foundation Already Laid Through Prayer” (1 Corinthians 3:10–11; Psalm 122:1; Acts 4:24), is currently at the Friedrich Monninger Congregation, Akosombo, under the Volta Presbytery. It is a day-long event with scheduled prayers to be offered until 7pm
The programme is being broadcast live on PCGTV and social media platforms. The prayer marathon features a national and presbytery-wide prayer timetable, with time slots allocated to various regions and offices, culminating in a global session from 7:00pm when the Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Dr. A.N.O. Kwakye, will lead the session till 1opm.
