The Global Presbyterian Prayer Marathon is currently in session and will run until 10:00pm tonight. The event, organised by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, is being held under the theme “Celebrating Our Heritage: Building on the Foundation Already Laid Through Prayer” (1 Corinthians 3:10–11; Psalm 122:1; Acts 4:24).
In an interview, the Mission and Evangelism Director, Rev. E. K. Sarbah, explained that the programme seeks to reveal God’s mind to the leadership and members of the church as the new year begins, give members the opportunity to boldly share Jesus Christ as the only hope for salvation, sharpen the spiritual gifts of members, deepen the Church’s dependence on God, and increase fellowship among members.
Rev. Sarbah also traced the journey of the Prayer Marathon, noting that it began at Frafraha in the Ga Presbytery, followed by sessions at North Kaneshie in Ga West, Grace Congregation in Akuapem, Zimmerman Congregation in Odumase Krobo under Dangme-Tongu, and Monninger Congregation in the Volta Presbytery.
The January 2025 and July 2025 editions laid the foundation for this year’s expanded national and global participation, he added. The current session is being hosted at Friedrich Monninger Congregation in Akosombo. The climaxing hours of the of the spiritual event will see the Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Dr. A.N.O. Kwakye leading the prayer session.
