Moderator pays courtesy call on Greater Accra Regional Minister

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, paid a courtesy call on the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Henry Quartey on Monday 20th June 2022 in his office.

The courtesy call forms part of the Moderator’s pastoral visit to the churches in the Ga Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana which began on Saturday 18th June 2022.

The Moderator commended the Regional Minister on his “Let’s make Accra Work Again” agenda. H urged the Minister to work without fear or favour and said any attempts by the Minister to let his guard down will be a betrayal of the Church and the entire region.

The Minister, upon assumption of office, has embarked on a series of activities aimed at clamping down indiscipline activities in the city.

The Moderator described the Regional Minister as the most courageous Minister in the country and assured him of the Church’s support to ensure he succeeds. “There are honest people in this country praying for people like you.”

“Please continue to be strong because this country will never go forward without people like you and I hope and pray that you keep it up”, he told the Minister.

Touching on the environmental cleanliness, the the Moderator said, the Presbyterian Church of Ghana as part of its efforts to help in the fight against filth in the country, launched a pilot project, the ‘National Cleanliness and Sanitation Campaign Project for Schools’ in Accra.

He said the campaign held under the theme: “Our Environment – In Your Hands,” aims at creating awareness of the need to protect the environment as God’s creation.

Citing Deuteronomy 23:12-14, Rt. Rev. Prof. Mante counselled that God can only dwell among people who are clean as evident in His instructions to the Israelites and therefore it is important that we keep our homes, environment and the nation clean in order to continually have the presence of God.

Hon. Henry Quartey on his part promised that he would go all out to ensure that the right thing is done to make Accra clean.

The Moderator’s delegation included the Ga Presbytery Chairperson of the PCG, Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, Rev. Nii Mensah Adjei, Ga Presbytery Clerk, Ing. Ludwig Annan Hesse, Ga Presbytery Lay Representative on the General Assembly Council of the Church, Mrs. Florence Mante, Wife of the Moderator, Rev. George Larbi, the Public Relations Officer of the Church, and Rev. Ebenezer Ashietey, National Director of Ecumenical and Social Relations of the Church.
