PCG Women’s Fellowship 60th anniversary underway in Accra
The 60th Annual National Delegates Conference of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) is underway at the Accra Academy Senior High School in the Greater Accra Region.
The weeklong conference, which is under the theme; Christ in you, the hope of glory- “Woman, Let the Presence of Christ in You Give You Hope to Glorify God Always” is being attended by delegates from all the 22 Presbyteries of the Church both home and abroad.
Opening the conference on Thursday 1ST September, 2022, the Chairperson of the Ga West Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev Enoch Adjei Pobee who represented the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana Rt Rev Prof Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante commended the leadership of the fellowship for sustaining the motive for the establishment of the fellowship over the years.
Rev Adjei Pobee said such gathering provided avenue for re-examining their roles as mothers in society and to adopt measures that would enhance the work of the Church. He encouraged them to know that through Christ, God reconcile all things to Himself including all Women’s Fellowship members.
Rev Adjei Pobee urged Christian women, to let the presence of Christ in them give them hope to glorify God always. He sighted example of Ruth who married the son of Naomi though Ruth’s husband died, she clung tightly to Naomi, her mother-in-law and followed her to her hometown. At the end of the day, the hope of following her mother-in-law, brought her the glory she needed.
He expressed the hope that the conference would be used to address matters affecting not only the church but also the state with the view of helping the government to prosecute its development agenda.
He said the role of the Women’s fellowship could not be compared to any other group in the Church and reminded them that people in their communities are looking up to them as their mentors and therefore urged them to exhibit good leadership qualities
The opening ceremony was so unique as delegates wore their traditional kente cloth and other traditional dress and display lot of beads and gold on their heads, necks, wrists, fingers, et cetra making it a colourful events.
Some of the programmes lined up for the conference include food bazaar, dinner, site seeing, election of national executives and thanksgiving on Sunday 4th September 2022 at the Keneshie Congregation.
