New Vice Chancellor of Presbyterian University, Ghana introduced to the General Assembly Council of PCG

The new Vice Chancellor of the Presbyterian University, Ghana Professor John Ofosu -Anim has been introduced to the General Assembly Council (GAC) of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at the ongoing GAC meeting at the Presbyterian Women’s Centre, Abokobi on Thursday 8th June 2023.

The new Vice-Chancellor takes over from the current VC, Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu. The Chairman of the University Council, His Lordship Justice Professor Emmanuel Nii Ashie Kotey introduced the new VC to the GAC.

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante who is also the Chancellor of the university, welcomed the new VC and congratulated him on behalf of the entire Church. He urged him to do all he could to make the University a place of choice for prospective students.

The new VC in a brief presentation, commended the leadership of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana for the continuous support of the university. He said he was committed to putting PUG on a pedestal of academic excellence. He added that he would place a premium on the needs of faculty since they play an essential role in higher education management.

Profile
He obtained his MSc in Agriculture and Ph.D. in Agronomy from Kagawa University and Nagoya University of Japan, respectively, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Ghana. He is a scientist with considerable international experience and outstanding administrative skills. Since 1996, he has risen from the rank of Lecturer to a Full Professor through quality teaching, research extension, and internationally acclaimed scholarship. Professor Ofosu-Anim has taught a range of courses and trained several undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Prior to his employment at Presbyterian University Ghana, Prof Ofosu-Anim was the Pro Vice Chancellor of the Central University.  Professor Ofosu-Anim was the Dean, of the School of Agriculture, at the University of Ghana and also held a number of administrative positions, including serving several times as Acting Provost, of the College of Basic and Applied Sciences, Head, of the Department of Crop Science and Vice-Dean of the School of Agriculture.

He has the tenacity of purpose and is passionate about being successful in his endeavours.
