The Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rev. David Aboagye-Danquah, has reiterated the wisdom behind the Church’s annual Jesus Christmas Street Party, stressing that the initiative is designed to reach not only children within congregations but also those in the wider community with the message of Jesus Christ.
The latest edition of the Street Party was hosted by the Teshie District of the Ga Presbytery, with celebrations held at three different stations: the Landing Beach Preaching Point at Sangonaa, Bethany Park in Teshie, and Grace Congregation at Sutsurunor, Teshie.
Speaking in an interview after the programme, Rev. Aboagye-Danquah shared the importance of the outreach. Christmas is not just about festivities within our church walls. It is about extending the love of Christ to children and families in our larger communities, reminding them that Jesus was born for all, he said.
Explaining why the Church distributed educational materials, food, and drinks alongside the Christmas message, the Clerk noted that the event reflects PCG’s holistic mission. “We give food and drinks to meet physical needs, stationery to support their education, and above all, the Word of God to nourish their spirits. This is how we demonstrate Christ’s love in practical ways,” he explained.
More than a thousand children participated in the Teshie District celebrations, receiving books, pencils, pens, rulers, erasers, and sharpeners, in addition to meals and refreshments. The event also featured joyful singing, creating a festive atmosphere while reinforcing the true meaning of Christmas.
Rev. Aboagye-Danquah noted that the Street Party is part of PCG’s broader vision of evangelism and social engagement. “This initiative is a testimony of our commitment to holistic ministry—where spiritual care goes hand in hand with social support. It is about building bridges of hope and ensuring that no child feels left out during the season of Christ’s birth,” he added.
