The Special Ministerial Training (SMT) 2025 Intake at the Ramseyer Training Centre (RTC), Abetifi, has successfully completed Minor Session One, marking a significant milestone in their ministerial formation. A total of 83 students, drawn from Presbyteries across the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) worldwide, participated in the session, which combined spiritual renewal with academic rigour.
The session began on January 11, 2026, with the arrival of students. By evening, they had gathered for the Opening and Commitment Service, which set the spiritual tone for the weeks ahead. Minor Session One was designed to sharpen pastoral skills and strengthen the liturgical knowledge of the trainees.
Throughout the period, the students engaged in intensive review of term papers, devotionals, and mentorship sessions led by senior ministers and facilitators. They were reminded that ministerial training is not only about academic excellence but also about cultivating discipline, humility, and doctrinal integrity.
A key feature of the session was practical liturgical studies, during which students in groups took turns to lead mock burial and commitment services, and naming rites.
A key highlight was also the visit of the Brong Ahafo Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Benjamin Appiah, who served as Senior-Most-in-Residence for three days. He mentored the students and charged them to remain faithful to their calling, stay rooted in Scripture, and uphold the Presbyterian identity in their future ministries.
The completion of Minor Session One has been described by the students as both refreshing and transformative. They expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be part of the training, noting that the session had strengthened their commitment to serve congregations faithfully.
