Moderator to preach at 44th Martyrs’ Day Remembrance Service
The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, will be the Guest Preacher at the 44th Martyrs’ Day Remembrance Service scheduled for Tuesday, 30th June 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
The service will take place at the ICGC Christ Temple East, Teshie. Martyrs’ Day is a solemn national observance held annually to honour the memory of the three High Court Judges—Justice Fred Poku Sarkodee, Justice Cecilia Koranteng‑Addow, and Justice Kwadwo Agyei Agyepong—who were abducted and murdered on 30th June 1982.
Their deaths remain one of the most painful reminders of the need to safeguard justice, uphold the rule of law, and protect the independence of the judiciary in Ghana.
Organised by the Ghana Bar Association, the service will bring together members of the legal fraternity, clergy, state officials, and the general public to reflect on the sacrifices of the martyrs and renew national commitment to justice and integrity.
The participation of the Moderator underscores the Presbyterian Church of Ghana’s longstanding commitment to moral leadership and the defence of justice. The church has therefore encouraged all congregations within the Ga Presbytery and Ga West Presbytery to prayerfully support the service and join in this moment of unity and national reflection.
