The former Clerk of General Assembly, Rev. Dr Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor, has reminded newly ordained ministers that their calling begins with a “good seed,” insisting that God Himself plants only what is wholesome and life‑giving.

Preaching on the theme “Good seeds in good soil” at the 2026 Ordination Service – Batch Four, at Salvation Congregation, New Achimota, Accra, Rev. Dr Nii Noi Odonkor observed that “no farmer worth his name would ever want to plant evil, bad, or diseased seed.”

Quoting from Matthew 13:1–9, 18–23, the parable of the sower, which he described as “the first recorded parable of Jesus and the master key because Jesus Himself interpreted it,” Rev. Dr Odonkor told the 26 newly ordained ministers—23 men and three women—that their ordination marks a divine beginning rooted in God’s goodness.

He explained that God has deposited His nature in every believer. “We have the DNA of God,” he said. “He planted His image in us at creation. We have been carefully and wonderfully made. From the very beginning, we have been created well.”

Rev. Dr Odonkor stressed that the origin of the seed determines its future, adding that “a good seed is a good start for the farmer.” He urged the ministers to embrace their identity as God‑planted seeds, confident that their calling has a strong and healthy foundation.

He expressed gratitude to the Moderator of the General Assembly for the opportunity to preach at the service and encouraged the ordinands to step into ministry with assurance, knowing that God has already begun a good work in them.
