The Project Manager of David Walter Limited, Mr. Kwesi Andoh, says basement works on the Kutunse conference centre are advancing steadily, with key internal spaces such as the banquet hall and syndicate rooms already enclosed.
He disclosed that the perimeter and relief drains are between 65% and 70% complete, while the access road is also nearing completion. Mr. Andoh disclosed this when the Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, visited the site a day before arriving in Abetifi–Kwahu for the 26th General Assembly.
Mr. Andoh explained that the entire 1,600‑seater conference centre is moving toward a major development as the project approaches the roofing stage. Roof trusses have been installed, and the team is completing the final cable chases required for electrical wiring, air‑conditioning and the fire‑alarm system. Once these installations are done, roofing sheets will be fixed.
He added that internal works are about 95% complete, with blockwork, plastering and wall finishes already done. Ceiling installations—made up of plasterboard and acoustic panels—are currently underway. The next phase will include floor tiling, doors and windows installation, and final painting.
Mr. Andoh assured that the project remains on schedule and that once roofing is completed, the team will move into the final finishing and installation phase. On his part, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye expressed gratitude to congregations, committees and individual donors supporting the Bicentennial Legacy Project and encouraged continued support ahead of Sunday’s fundraising event.
