Six members of the church’s Legal and Constitutional Matters have been honoured for their dedicated service as they completed their six‑year tenure. The six are Prof. Akua Kuenyehia, Rev. Prof. B. Y. Quarshie, Rev. Herbert Anim Opong, Rev. Philip Nii Anann-Nai, Sheila Minka-Premo Esq. and Kwabena Adu Kusi Esq.
The recognition took place on Wednesday, 2nd September 2026, during the 6th Annual Consultation on Court Cases and Legal Issues at the Presbyterian Women’s Centre, Abokobi. The Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Dr Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, who delivered the opening address, praised the outgoing members for their commitment to a committee he described as “difficult, technical and sometimes sensitive.”
He noted that their work demanded deep knowledge of the church’s constitution, careful judgment, discretion and a willingness to give significant time to the church. Speaking directly to the honourees, the Moderator said, “Thank you for giving your knowledge and time to the church. Thank you for participating in meetings and deliberations that may never be known to the wider membership, but which contribute to the orderly governance of this church.”
Rt. Rev. Dr Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye added that their service forms part of the church’s ongoing effort to build on the foundations laid by earlier generations. The Moderator reminded the gathering that the church’s theme for 2026: “Celebrating Our Heritage: Building on the Foundations Already Laid” (1 Corinthians 3:11), calls every leader to honour the legacy they have inherited.
He said the six outgoing members have themselves “left a foundation upon which those who follow must build.” The Moderator prayed that God would continue to use them in other areas of ministry, saying, “We pray that the Lord whom you have served through this responsibility will reward your labour and continue to use you in His vineyard.”
