Presbyterian Church of Ghana men worldwide have been challenged to embrace their calling as teachers, mentors and intentional disciple‑makers who will shape the next generation.
Upper Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Roger Awudibah Wegurih, who made the call at the National Annual Delegates Conference of the Men’s Fellowship, currently underway in Tamale, reminded that the Presbyterian tradition has always emphasised teaching, discipline and spiritual formation.
The conference, held from 10th to 13th September 2026 at the Unity Congregation, Sakasaka, is on the theme: “Celebrating Our Heritage: Building on the Foundation Already Laid – Raising the Next Generation,” with scriptural references from 1 Corinthians 3:11, Colossians 2:6–7, and 2 Timothy 2:2.
Rev. Wegurih appealed to the Fellowship to “be the teachers we want our children to see”, stressing that men must model Christlike character in their homes, congregations and communities. He added that raising the next generation requires intentional disciple‑making, rooted in Scripture and lived out through daily example.
He encouraged delegates to sing Presbyterian hymns with deeper understanding and meaning, noting that the hymns themselves are powerful tools for teaching faith and shaping Christian attitudes. He referenced PH 610, which speaks about waiting patiently on the Lord, and PH 603, which teaches believers to cultivate the attitude of Christ, virtues he said men must embody and pass on.
Rev. Wegurih further stated that society’s transformation is a collective calling, and Presbyterian men must lead that transformation with humility and service. He noted that the church’s forebears laid a strong foundation of mission, education and discipline, and today’s men are called to continue that legacy.
