7th DSS Consultation opens at Abokobi
The 7th Annual Development and Social Services (DSS) Consultation opens today, 14th October 2026, at the Presbyterian Women’s Centre, Abokobi, bringing together DSS Directors from all Presbyteries for three days of reflection, learning and strategic planning. The consultation runs until 16th October 2026.
Anchored on the theme “Celebrating Our Heritage: Building on the Foundation Already Laid — Fostering Health, Harvest and Human Dignity,” the gathering sets the stage for renewed commitment to the Church’s long‑standing development mandate.
The theme reflects the keynote emphasis delivered ahead of the opening: that the PCG’s heritage in health, agriculture, education and social transformation must now be matched with forward‑looking, innovative and accountable interventions.
Discussions are expected to focus on reviewing achievements across Presbyteries and strengthening the Church’s social interventions. Participants will present their Presbytery DSS Action Plans, outlining priorities in health, food security, livelihoods, empowerment, human rights, environmental stewardship and community development.
The consultation builds on the charge delivered by keynote speaker Dr. Esther Ofei‑Aboagye, who urged the Church to “stay ahead of the curve” by anticipating emerging challenges, strengthening partnerships, deepening evidence‑based programming and fostering holistic well‑being.
She reminded participants that DSS work is interdependent and must be approached systemically, linking health, harvest and human_dignity in ways that reflect both local realities and global development trends.
The Moderator, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, and the Clerk of the General Assembly, Rev. David Aboagye‑Danquah, are expected to attend the consultation, along with the National Director of DSS, Mrs. Rebecca Teiko Sabah.
