Elevate digital evangelism – Timi Pudie

Church media practitioners have been challenged to pursue excellence, creativity and professionalism in using digital platforms to advance the Gospel and strengthen the Church’s outreach.

The call was made by international filmmaker, media consultant and storytelling coach Timi Pudie during an Advanced Media and Storytelling Masterclass organised by Cedrico Experience in partnership with the Ga Presbytery Media and Public Relations Committee at the Epiphany Congregation, Kaajaano, last Saturday.

The training brought together church media personnel and volunteers from congregations across the Ga Presbytery to enhance their skills in film production, digital media strategy, storytelling, scriptwriting, editing and post-production.

Addressing participants, Pudie emphasised that church media ministry extends beyond operating cameras and livestreaming services, describing it as a powerful tool for reaching people beyond the walls of the Church.

He urged practitioners to focus on creating content that responds to the real needs of audiences rather than simply following online trends. To guide effective content creation, he introduced a “Three-Question Engine” centred on identifying audience needs, providing relevant solutions and inspiring meaningful action.

“The most important and expensive equipment in church media is not necessarily the camera, computer, microphone or streaming software. It is the people who operate them,” he said, encouraging media teams to maximise available resources through innovation and technical competence.

The Ga Presbytery Public Relations Officer, Rev. Stanley Toddison, called on church media practitioners to uphold high professional and ethical standards in their work. He noted that the masterclass followed an earlier online session on media ethics and professional guidelines, with the in-person training providing practical opportunities for participants to apply those principles.

Speaking on the role of emerging communication platforms, Cecil Sovereign of Cedrico Experience said new media had become an indispensable part of daily life and encouraged Christians to leverage digital channels effectively to reach wider audiences with the Gospel.
