The Moderatorial Gown Review Selection Sub-Committee has presented its report to the General Assembly Council (GAC), with a decision on the new gown expected to be announced later. The submission marks a significant moment in the ongoing effort to develop a new Moderatorial gown that reflects Presbyterian tradition, Ghanaian identity, and contemporary realities.

The report follows the launch of the Moderatorial Gown Design Competition in August 2026. At the launch, the Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, stressed that any new gown must honour the rich traditions of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) while presenting the image of a church that is authentically Ghanaian.

Presenting the committee’s report, the Chairperson, Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor, disclosed that 11 entries were received from participants across several Presbyteries, demonstrating widespread interest in the exercise. These 11 were whittled down to two. Contributors included ministers, catechists, academics, fashion professionals, and lay members from the Kwahu, Asante, Asante South, Akuapem, Ga and Ga West Presbyteries.

The committee expressed appreciation to all participants for responding to the call within the limited timeframe and for investing their creativity and expertise in the competition.

With the committee’s report now before the General Assembly Council, the Church moves a step closer to selecting a gown that will serve as a lasting symbol of Presbyterian identity, heritage and leadership. The Council’s decision on the committee’s recommendations will be communicated at a later date.
