AI, digital transformation committee named
The Presbyterian Church of Ghana has appointed an 11‑member ad hoc committee to draft guidelines on the use of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation within the church, following a decision of the 26th General Assembly held at the Ramseyer Training Centre, Abetifi in August.
The General Assembly directive, issued in a circular signed by the Clerk of the General Assembly, Rev. David Aboagye‑Danquah, notes that the General Assembly resolved to expand the Church’s existing ICT Policy to include clear standards for AI usage, digital tools and emerging technologies. The committee is expected to submit its draft guidelines to the General Assembly Council by February 2027.
Convenor of the committee is Prof. Francis Amagloh, and with members: Rev. Dr. Felix Cornelius Adjei, Rev. Charles Kwesi Yeboah, Prof. Philip Kwaku Kankam, Mr. Nathaniel Palm, Mr. Enoch Narteh, Mr. Jerome Otchere, Rev. Jeffery Mingle, Rev. Dr. Ransford Kwabena Awuku‑Gyampoh, Rev. Ebenezer Ahenkan Owusu, and Rev. Dr. Nii Longdon Sowah.
The circular states that the church is counting on the committee’s collective expertise to develop “comprehensive and appropriate guidelines for the effective use of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation within the church,” ensuring that technological adoption aligns with PCG’s mission, governance structures and ethical commitments.
The General Assembly Office has extended prayers for wisdom, grace and guidance to the committee members as they undertake what it describes as an important assignment for the future of the church.
