Desist from unauthorised production, sale of bicentennial souvenir

The Presbyterian Church of Ghana has issued a strong caution to the general public following reports of unauthorized production and sale of Bicentennial Anniversary souvenirs, including inferior‑quality Bicentennial cloth being sold by individuals without approval.

In a circular signed by the Clerk of the General Assembly, Rev. David Aboagye‑Danquah, the church described the development as a matter of serious concern, noting that such practices undermine the integrity of the Bicentennial celebration and mislead members and the general public.

The church stressed that it has invested significant resources, mobilised through the sacrifices of members, into the planning and organisation of the anniversary and therefore expects all related activities to be conducted responsibly.

The circular warned that the sale and purchase of unauthorised souvenirs, especially items falsely presented as official church products, threaten the image of the church and compromise efforts toward a successful Bicentennial celebration. Congregations and Preaching Points have been directed to caution their members and encourage them to purchase only officially approved Bicentennial items from authorised sources.

The church further instructed all individuals and groups involved in producing or selling unauthorised souvenirs to immediately desist from the practice, adding that continued misuse of the church’s name, branding, symbols or identity will attract appropriate action in line with church regulations and the laws of Ghana.

The Clerk called on Ministers, Sessions and Presbytery leaders to help create awareness and ensure compliance with the directive.
