The Presbyterian Church of Ghana’s annual Jesus Christmas Street Party brought joy, fellowship, and hope to children in the Teshie District of the Ga Presbytery, as the Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, led a team of church leaders to three stations within the district.
The celebrations took place at the Landing Beach Preaching Point in Sangonaa, Bethany Park in Teshie, and Grace Congregation in Sutsurunor, Teshie. The Moderator was accompanied by the Clerk of the General Assembly, Rev. David Aboagye-Danquah; Ga Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Col. (Rtd) David Adoteye-Asare; Presbytery Clerk, Rev. Isaac Quist; Teshie District Minister, Rev. Edmond Adjetey.
Also present were the Development and Social Services National Director, Mrs. Rebecca Teiko Sabah; National Director of Church Life and Nurture, Rev. Andrew Shardow, alongside agents and congregants from the district. More than a thousand children received packed food and drinks, as well as stationery including exercise books, pencils, pens, rulers, erasers, and sharpeners.
Beyond meeting physical needs, the event also catered to the spiritual growth of the children. Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye shared the Christmas message at each station, reminding the children of the birth of Jesus Christ and His enduring love for them.
Christmas is a season of joy, but it is also a time to remind ourselves of God’s love revealed in the birth of Christ. We want our children to know that Jesus loves them deeply, and that they are precious in His sight, the Moderator said.
The atmosphere was filled with excitement as the children sang, played, and listened to the message of hope. The Moderator noted that the initiative reflects the Church’s mission to combine evangelism with social outreach, ensuring that vulnerable children are not left behind during the festive season.
