Newly inducted Chairperson of the Upper Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rev. Roger Awudibah Wegurih, has promised to continue the legacy of his predecessors by completing key projects and expanding the church’s reach.

Speaking at his induction ceremony, Rev. Wegurih stated his commitment to teamwork and growth. “I have come for the development of the Presbytery,” he said. “I will team up with ministers, catechists, caretakers and everyone to work for God and His church.”

He mentioned two major projects as his focus: the mission center at Karaminga and a hospitality facility at the Presbytery office. “I promise to continue all the development projects…especially the mission center at Karaminga and the hospitality facility”.

Rev. Wegurih rallied for support from past leaders and partners of the Presbytery. “I call on all who have served in the Upper Presbytery before and, of course, our partners to rise and support this project, which will help in human development of the Presbytery,” he said.

In line with the PCG’s Agenda 2Million initiative, which aims to grow church membership, Rev. Wegurih outlined a plan to expand the Presbytery’s footprint. “We are on course, and our pledge is that together as a Presbytery, within the next four years, we will establish 60 churches — ten more than the target the General Assembly has given us,” he said. “Almost half of the 60 churches have already been established.”

Rev. Wegurih highlighted the need for capacity building, promising to prioritise lay training and the development of catechists and caretakers to strengthen the Presbytery’s leadership base.
