On the final day of the 2025 National Evangelism and Church Growth Consultation at the Ramseyer Training Centre, Abetifi, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye has emphasised the need for an unwavering commitment to the core message of Jesus Christ as the church pursues its growth agenda.

“Harness all resources to ensure everyone is carried along, leave here with passion,” the Moderator charged, reminding participants that the PCG remains a true church of Jesus Christ. While acknowledging that methods of preaching the gospel may change, the Moderator cautioned against compromising the gospel in the quest for numbers.

“If there is a church that anybody has to be proud of, it is the Presbyterian Church. The variables may change but let us not depart from the core issues. Let us remain true to all of these things about Jesus Christ,” the Moderator declared.

He warned that diluting the gospel for popularity would weaken the church’s foundation: “You can dilute the things, but I can assure you that you’ll end up worse off.”

The Moderator urged participants to ensure that growth reflects genuine transformation.

“In an attempt to bring more people to the church, let us remain true to the gospel. AI are all variables. Let the numbers reflect what Jesus Christ is doing amongst us. Let us make our churches in such a way that when the people come and go, they will come back.”

He called on the ministers to keep the mission of Christ at the heart of evangelism. “Keep Agenda 2 Million uppermost on your mind as you go,” the Moderator concluded, leaving the assembly energised and committed to building a church that grows without losing its soul.
