Rev. David Aboagye-Danquah Takes Over as Clerk of General Assembly
A solemn handing-over ceremony has been held at the Eben-Ezer Congregation, Osu, Accra, where Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor officially handed over the office of Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) to Rev. David Aboagye Danquah.
In his inaugural sermon, Rev. Danquah spoke on the themes of gratitude, integrity, and togetherness. He expressed deep appreciation to all who have supported him in his ministry journey, thanking God for His love and divine plans for his life.
He acknowledged the Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, for three decades of bonding and engagement, noting that he expects this relationship to grow even stronger in the years ahead.
Rev. David Aboagye Danquah paid tribute to his predecessor, Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor, for his hard work and dedication, and called for his continued support, particularly as he would be close by as Osu District Minister.
The new Clerk of General Assembly also mentioned former Moderator, Rev. Dr. Sam Prempeh, and reflected on the privilege of serving under multiple Moderators and Clerks, from whom he has drawn valuable lessons.
“I have served my apprenticeship,” he said, “and I will continue to seek counsel and support from these great men who have served the church.”
Looking ahead, Rev. David Aboagye Danquah pledged to uphold the integrity of the Clerk’s office, promising to work diligently and foster unity across the church. “I will do my best to keep the integrity of the office” he said adding praying for everyone’s support.
The smooth transition symbolises continuity in leadership of the PCG and the church’s unwavering commitment to Christ-centered service.
