Time is great, godly resource – Rev. Dr. Nii Noi Odonkor
The outgoing Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor, has urged Christians to recognise time as a sacred gift from God and use it intentionally to add value to their lives and faith.
Preaching at his end-of-tenure service at the PCG Victory Congregation, Frafraha, Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor reflected on the divine nature of time. “Another name for God is time. Time is a gift from God,” he declared. “God is timeless, but it is for our sake that God has reckoned time.”
He emphasised that progress and purpose are birthed within time, stating, “service and progress lie in the womb of time.” He charged Christians to actively “use time to add value.” He assured the congregation that when God’s appointed time arrives, His purpose is inevitably fulfilled.
Striking a crucial balance, the outgoing Clerk highlighted the biblical importance of rest, noting that “God rested on the seventh day.” He explained that in today’s world, rest must not be an imposition but a conscious choice.
“Rest is no longer imposed on us; we must be intentional about when to rest and when to work,” he said, adding that spiritual rest is synonymous with waiting on the Lord. “Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.”
Rev. Dr. Odonkor expressed heartfelt appreciation to the church’s directors, officers, and ministers for their support throughout his tenure. He also extended salutations to political and traditional leaders for their partnership and encouragement, closing a significant chapter of his service to the General Assembly office.
