The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) Head Office has held its End of Year Service, where the Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, charged staff to embrace the spirit of giving and share with others this Christmas.

In his Christmas message, the Moderator reminded staff that the birth of Jesus Christ must remain central to all Christmas celebrations. He stated that debates over whether Jesus was born in December are immaterial, stressing that “the point is that Jesus was born.”

Quoting Matthew 2:13–15, he reflected on the story of Jesus and his mother Mary fleeing to Egypt, where they were received. He explained that just as Egypt opened its doors to them, Christians today must also open themselves to people who come with genuine troubles.

“Sometimes we get into difficult times and challenges, and when that happens, people look for solace. I’m not asking you to be naive, but at Christmas we should open ourselves and receive people who come with genuine trouble,” he said.

The Moderator noted that Christmas is a time of hospitality, urging staff to share what they have with as many people as possible. “The people of Egypt shared their community with Jesus, his father and mother. This Christmas, share what you have with others,” he added.

The service also featured the recognition of two retirees and individuals for their long and dedicated service to the church. The End of Year Service brought together staff in thanksgiving, reflection, and fellowship, reinforcing the church’s mission of living out Christian values through hospitality, and service to others.
