His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has urged Ghanaians to embrace unity, forgiveness, and love as the nation enters 2026.

Speaking at the Presbyterian Church of Ghana’s (PCG) New Year’s Day Service at Ramseyer Congregation, Adum, Kumasi, the Asantehene advised against division, stressing that development and peace can only thrive when people live together as one.

“Those who carry my umbrella are human as me. They breathe the same air as I do,” he said, emphasising that there was no need to hold grudges. His message centered on oneness, forgiveness, and the importance of building a peaceful society.

The Asantehene commended the leadership of Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, Moderator of the General Assembly of the PCG, for guiding the church faithfully. He also welcomed the new Clerk of General Assembly, Rev. David Aboagye-Danquah, encouraging him to serve diligently and do his best for God and the church.

Reflecting on his longstanding relationship with the PCG, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II explained that he has been worshipping with the church on New Year’s Day for over a decade. While acknowledging that his wife is a Presbyterian, he clarified that his attendance is driven by his devotion to the Word of God. “I will always come with my wife, but I come because of the Word of God,” he said.

The Asantehene observed that 2025 had its share of challenges. “Life was good for some, and bad for others, but as the Bible says, in all things we must give thanks to God,” he noted, adding that without God’s grace, no one would be alive.

He further cautioned against pride and arrogance, describing them as vices that lead nowhere. He warned the public to be wary of individuals who solicit money under the pretense of arranging meetings with him, stressing that such claims are false.

Charging the Ramseyer Congregation to continue their good works, His Royal Majesty asked the church to keep praying for him as he continues to serve Asanteman and Ghana.
