The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, has underscored the need for discipline and welfare as pillars of integrity in the life of the church.
Addressing ministers during the “Time with the General Assembly Office” session at the 2026 National Ministers’ Conference at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, he stated that discipline in conduct, dress code, marital life, and care for retired ministers must remain central to the PCG’s witness.
As Presbyterians, discipline is not optional; it is essential to the integrity of tour church, argued the Moderator. He reminded ministers that their public conduct and personal lives reflect directly on their ministry and the church and urged them to uphold Biblical standards that inspire confidence among congregants and society at large.
He stressed that ministers must model modesty and propriety in dress, maintain faithfulness in marital relationships, and adhere to conditions of service that reflect accountability and commitment. According to him, these values are not merely administrative but spiritual, shaping the credibility of the PCG’s leadership.
Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye also highlighted the welfare of retired ministers as a moral responsibility. He noted that those who have laboured faithfully in the vineyard deserve dignity and care in retirement and called for renewed attention to their needs.
His message was received with sober reflection by delegates, who acknowledged that discipline and welfare are not only internal matters but vital to the PCG’s mission.
