A coordinated schedule that mobilises presbyteries of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) across the country and beyond is expected to unite the church for intercession as the Global Presbyterian Prayer Marathon draws closer.
The event, themed “Celebrating Our Heritage: Building on the Foundation Already Laid Through Prayer” (1 Corinthians 3:10–11, Psalm 127:1, Acts 2:42), is slated for Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Akosombo.
The prayer marathon begins at 10:00am with the General Assembly Office and continues throughout the day with hour-long slots allocated to regional presbyteries. Participating groups include:
- 12:00pm–1:00pm: Ga, Upper, Sekyere
- 1:00pm–2:00pm: Asante, Sefwi, Kwahu
- 2:00pm–3:00pm: Ga West, Northern, Asante South
- 3:00pm–4:00pm: Akuapem, West Brong, Asante Akyem
- 4:00pm–5:00pm: Brong Ahafo, Central, West Akyem
- 5:00pm–6:00pm: Akyem Abuakwa, Dangme Tongu, Europe
- 6:00pm–7:00pm: Western, Volta, North America, and Australia Presbytery
The final segment, from 7:00pm to 10:00pm, will feature a national and global prayer session, bringing together Presbyterians from all corners of the world in a shared moment of spiritual reflection, thanksgiving, and intercession.
The marathon forms part of PCG’s bicentennial momentum, reinforcing prayer as a cornerstone of the Church’s heritage and mission. It also complements pre-event activities including street evangelism on Saturday, January 17, and presbytery-wide prayer chains earlier on Sunday from 1:00pm to 7:00pm.
Congregants are encouraged to participate actively—whether in person, through their local presbytery, or via PCGTV and PCG’s social media handles—as the church builds on its legacy of prayer and unity.
