The Department of Mission and Evangelism has reported significant progress in its discipleship and church growth mandate, with 427 new congregations planted across the 21 Presbyteries, including South Africa and South Korea, between January 2024 and November 2025.
This achievement represents over 40 percent of the target set under the Agenda 2 Million vision, underscoring the Church’s commitment to expanding its evangelistic footprint and nurturing discipleship. November 2025 was marked by renewed energy and strategic engagements. The highlight of the month was the 21st National Evangelism and Church Growth Consultation, held at the Ramseyer Training Centre, Abetifi, from November 17 to 20.
All 21 Presbyteries were represented at the consultation, which was moderated by the Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, with Nana Yaw Offei-Awuku as the main speaker. Discussions centred on discipleship, sustaining evangelism, and long-term church growth, culminating in collective affirmations to guide the Church’s mission in the years ahead. Citations were presented to outgoing committee chairpersons and Presbytery Mission and Evangelism Directors in recognition of their service.
Preparations also intensified for the 2026 National Crusade, scheduled for March 11–13 in Kumasi. The National Planning Committee, inaugurated earlier in July, confirmed Rev. Eric Botchway as the main speaker, with music ministry to be led by ACP Kofi Sarpong, Christian Arko, and Kesewaa Kessy.
In addition, the National Director of Mission and Evangelism, Rev. Dr. Emmanuel K. Sarbah, visited the Haatso District on November 16 to commend their support for church planting efforts in Ghana and South Africa. He worshipped with Pleasant Hills Congregation and met district leaders at Calvary Congregation, reinforcing the importance of grassroots partnerships in advancing the mission agenda.
Looking ahead, the Department has announced a Presbyterian Worldwide Prayer Marathon in January 2026, alongside Trainer of Trainers workshops across all Presbyteries to strengthen discipleship capacity for the Agenda 2 Million drive. The Moderator is also expected to inaugurate three national committees, Evangelism, Specialised Ministry, and Global Mission, before the close of December.
