The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye has stated that ethical leadership is essential for rebuilding FECCIWA into a credible prophetic voice in West Africa.
Speaking at the FECCIWA Extraordinary Meeting in Abokobi, Accra, the Moderator drew lessons from Moses and Joshua, pointing to their humility, courage, and obedience as models for today’s leaders. “Moses teaches humble obedience and intercession,” he said, recalling how Moses led Israel despite reluctance, interceded for a rebellious people, and mentored Joshua with integrity.
For FECCIWA, this means leaders who listen humbly, confront weaknesses honestly, and advocate for the marginalized without compromise. Joshua, the Moderator noted, modeled courageous transition and unity, building on Moses’ legacy and leading the people with strategic humility.
“In rebuilding FECCIWA, we need Joshuas who bridge generations, promote inclusive collaboration, and advance holistic witness with steadfast obedience,” he added. Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye stressed that ethical leadership is not about power-seeking but servant-hearted authority.
He urged FECCIWA leaders to strengthen governance structures, invest in capacity-building, and prioritise youth and marginalised voices. “True leadership involves building on foundations laid by predecessors, fostering unity amid diversity, and trusting God’s promises over human strength,” he affirmed.
He concluded that ethical leadership, rooted in humility and courage, is the cornerstone of FECCIWA’s renewal. “We must rise together with integrity, for only then can FECCIWA speak boldly as a prophetic voice in our fractured region.”
