True leadership begins with Christ – Moderator
At the FECCIWA Extraordinary Meeting in Abokobi, Accra, the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, has reminded participants that true leadership starts with Jesus Christ and is sustained by the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit.
He described Christ as the supreme model of ethical leadership, noting that He came “not to be served but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many.” Christ’s humility in washing the disciples’ feet, His boldness in speaking truth to power, and His sacrificial love, the Moderator said, must inspire FECCIWA’s leaders.
“For FECCIWA to be a credible prophetic voice, our leadership must reflect Christ’s humility, justice, and sacrificial love,” he declared. He cautioned that rebuilding FECCIWA requires more than human effort. “Rebuilding demands more than human effort; it requires the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit,” he said, drawing parallels with Nehemiah’s perseverance against opposition.
The Holy Spirit, he stated, unites what is divided, convicts of sin, inspires wisdom, and sustains endurance. The Moderator urged delegates to commit to prayerful dependence and steadfast endurance, assuring them that with Christ as foundation and the Holy Spirit as guide, FECCIWA can rise again.
“Beloved delegates, the time for rebuilding is now. Let us rise like Nehemiah’s remnant, united and Spirit-empowered, to restore FECCIWA’s walls as a prophetic voice that declares God’s justice, mercy, and hope across West Africa.”
