Be ready to adapt to new ways of doing things – Moderator to NSASS students
The fast‑changing trends and developments in the world require that all of us, especially young people, are able to adapt quickly to changing situations in order to remain relevant in the global space, according to the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye.
Addressing students of Nsaba Presbyterian Senior Secondary School (NSASS), on Saturday at Nsaba as part of his Central Presbytery visit, the Moderator underscored the need for students to appreciate how the world has changed and continues to change, often marked by outbreak of diseases and unending conflicts.
“We live in a changing world. Not long ago, there was Covid-19 and now there are conflicts such as the Russia–Ukraine war and tensions in the Gulf region. These remind us that the world is unstable,” he said, stressing that these realities demand that the youth position themselves well. “These changes demand that young people equip themselves with skills, adaptability, and resilience to remain relevant.”
As an academic, theologian, and former university lecturer, the Moderator stated the importance of education in preparing students for this new reality. “Education must prepare you not only academically but also mentally and psychologically to fit into this new world,” he argued, adding that young people “must be ready to adapt to new ways of doing things and to serve society with excellence.”
He urged the students to understand that success depends on their determination. “God will bless your efforts, but you must take responsibility for your future. Your attitude towards education matters more than the school you attend,” he said.
The Moderator encouraged students to rise above difficulties through discipline and hard work. “I have seen students who entered university with weak grades but graduated as excellent scholars because they applied themselves. You too can rise above challenges if you commit to hard work and discipline,” he affirmed.
