Moderator in Winneba, worships with NUPS G UEW local
On the climax of his weeklong Central Presbytery visit, the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye Opare, has arrived in Winneba to worship with students of the National Union of Presbyterian Students – Ghana (NUPS‑G) at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).
The Moderator’s pastoral tour of the Central Presbytery has taken him through four zonal areas; Kasoa, Swedru, Asikuma, and Nsaba, where he met caretakers, catechists, ministers, congregants, and students from various Presbyterian schools.
At each stop, he encouraged the faithful to remain steadfast in Christ, uphold unity, and prepare actively for the church’s bicentennial celebration in 2028. He also addressed pressing issues such as discipline in schools, the need for infrastructure development, and the importance of generational groups like the Young Adults’ Fellowship (YAF).
In Winneba for the final leg of the tour, the Moderator is expected to preach and encourage Presbyterian students at UEW, challenging them to remain committed to God.
The Winneba service will mark the climax of a tour that has blended pastoral care, institutional engagement, and spiritual encouragement, reinforcing the Moderator’s vision of a united, disciplined, and forward‑looking church ready to celebrate 200 years of existence.
