Presbytery chairpersons sign 2026 PTA
Chairpersons of the various presbyteries have renewed their commitment to measurable growth and accountability with the signing of the 2026 Performance Target Agreement (PTA). The agreement, which forms part of the implementation of the church’s strategic plan, is designed to strengthen stewardship, improve reporting, and ensure timely remittance of funds across all Presbyteries.
In a statement of appreciation, the Clerk of General Assembly, Rev David Aboagye-Danquah commended the chairpersons and their teams for their dedication to the strategic plan. However, the recent evaluation revealed some challenges like incomplete reporting.
To address the challenges, chairpersons have been urged to institute structured quarterly evaluations, replicate the process at district and congregational levels, and establish clear timelines and accountability systems for accurate reporting.
The PTA sets out key priorities for 2026, including growth in membership, improved welfare of members, accountability, and timely submission of reports. It also allows chairpersons to set context‑specific targets tailored to the needs of their Presbyteries.
Their role is primarily facilitative, focusing on training, capacity building, resource allocation, supervision, and motivation. Rev David Aboagye-Danquah stated that the strategic plan must not be treated as a mere formality. Performance discussions are to become standing agenda items at Presbytery and District meetings, with measurable outcomes linked to recognition and support.
Reports submitted will be reviewed and feedback provided to assure lower courts that their efforts are valued. To support accurate and timely reporting, Presbyteries will organise periodic training, set reporting deadlines with reminders, and introduce verification and peer‑review mechanisms at the district level before submission.
