God is looking for ambassadors to standout – Moderator
Amidst the moral degeneration and corruption that has enveloped today’s society, the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, has observed that God is still searching for people who will stand up for Him.
Preaching on the theme “The One Who Stands Before God” with references from Ezekiel 22:23–31, the Moderator decried the level of evil in society today, stating that despite the slump, God still wants people who will stand for Him.
“In our nation today, all manner of evil is taking place. It is not about justice, but about the highest bidder. Young people in school are involved in all kinds of evil. As for the older ones, we cannot even talk about it,” he said at a divine service with the National Union of Presbyterian Students – Ghana (NUPS‑G), University of Education, Winneba local, on the final day of his Central Presbytery tour.
He lamented that corruption is widespread, even among some within the church, and mentioned the growing number of prophets whose predictions focus on political elections and football matches rather than calling people to repentance. “Unfortunately, people with prophetic voices are more interested in football matches and who wins elections,” he said.
The Moderator warned that if such practices continue, God’s wrath could be unleashed on the nation. Yet he expressed hope, declaring: “God is looking for someone to mitigate His wrath, someone who will stand in the gap on behalf of others. Today I am here to tell you that God is looking for someone whose heart is still committed to Him.”
He stressed that God is seeking intercessors, people willing to lift holy hands and pray for the nation, even if they remain unseen or unknown. He prayed that the Spirit of God would stir hearts to live righteously and stand out when God calls.
“Jesus is calling you to a higher order. It is easy to conform to your community, but God is looking for the righteous who will say that in spite of the difficulties, they will represent Him and stand for Him,” the Moderator ended.
