The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, has called on Christians to rediscover the hope and transformative power of Easter in a world marked by conflict, fear, and uncertainty.

Delivering his 2026 Easter Message titled “The Mystery of Easter: Christ Our Hope in a Troubled World,” the Moderator said Easter remains the foundation of Christian hope and the divine answer to human brokenness. “Easter is not merely a season; it is the very foundation of Christian hope… the triumph of life over death,” he wrote.

He traced the spiritual journey from Lent to Resurrection Sunday, describing it as a path of reflection, repentance, and renewal. He emphasised that Lent “confronts the illusion of self‑sufficiency” and leads believers to depend fully on God’s grace. The events of Passion Week—Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday—together reveal the depth of Christ’s sacrificial love and the completeness of His redemptive work.

The Moderator stressed that the resurrection speaks directly to the anxieties of today’s world. With global conflicts, economic instability, and rising injustice, he said the Church must not remain silent. “The resurrection compels us to speak for peace, justice, and the sanctity of life,” he noted, adding that every human being bears God’s image and deserves dignity.

He urged Christians to embrace Easter as a call to action—praying for nations, defending the vulnerable, showing compassion, and witnessing boldly to the truth of the Gospel.

In his concluding message, Rt. Rev. Dr. Opare Kwakye encouraged believers to live as “a resurrection people,” confident that despair never has the final word. “Christ is risen,” he declared. “He is risen indeed.”
