Rev. Wilberforce Takyi elected B/A Presbytery Chairperson

The Sunyani East District Minister and Minister‑in‑Charge of the Resurrection Congregation, New Dormaa, Sunyani, Rev. Wilberforce Takyi, has been elected as the next Brong Ahafo Presbytery Chairperson of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.

His election took place during the 60th Presbytery Session at Ayakamaso, where delegates voted to select new leadership for the Presbytery. According to official results, Rev. Takyi emerged as the winner in the second round of voting, securing 69 votes, representing 52.7 percent of the total ballots cast.

He was followed by Rev. Attah Dwomoh, who obtained 36 votes (27.5 percent), and Rev. Augustine Bae, who received 26 votes (19.8 percent). One ballot was rejected.

Earlier in the nomination stage, Rev. Takyi had also led the field with 49 votes, ahead of other contenders including Rev. Daniel Kwasi Bediako, Rev. Benjamin Owusu Antwi, Rev. Augustine Bae, and Rev. Attah Dwomoh. His strong showing throughout the process reflected broad confidence among delegates.

The election marks a new chapter for the Brong Ahafo Presbytery, which continues to expand its mission and strengthen its administrative structures across the region. Rev. Takyi’s victory was met with gratitude and prayerful support. As Chairperson‑elect, Rev. Takyi is expected to lead the Presbytery in advancing its evangelistic, educational, and social outreach programmes.
