PWC Abokobi, Forestry Ladies to plant trees
The Presbyterian Women’s Centre (PWC), Abokobi, in partnership with the Forestry Commission Ladies Association and the Development and Social Services (DSS) Unit of the Abokobi District, will on Friday, 5th June 2026, hold a Tree Planting and Labelling Exercise as part of efforts to promote environmental stewardship and climate action within the community.
The event, scheduled to begin at 8am at the premises of the Presbyterian Women’s Centre, forms part of the church’s broader commitment to creation care and responsible environmental management. Participants will plant and label various tree species, contributing to national afforestation efforts and reinforcing the PCG’s long‑standing advocacy for sustainable land use.
The Forestry Commission Ladies Association is expected to provide technical guidance on proper planting methods and long‑term maintenance to ensure the survival of the trees. The DSS Unit will also support the exercise, highlighting the importance of community involvement in environmental protection.
Leaders of the Presbyterian Women’s Centre have encouraged staff, community members, and partner institutions to participate actively, noting that tree planting is both an ecological responsibility and an investment in the wellbeing of future generations.
The event is expected to draw stakeholders from the church, the local community, and environmental agencies, all united in the shared goal of promoting a greener and healthier environment.
