Intensify evangelism, discipleship efforts – Moderator

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, has called on the Church to renew its passion for evangelism and discipleship, urging members to play an active role in advancing the denomination’s Agenda Two Million vision.

Speaking to Ministers, Catechists, officers, and congregants during the second day of his official visit to the Ga West Presbytery, the Moderator expressed concern about the current growth rate of some of the church’s largest Presbyteries. He noted that the Ga Presbytery, Ashanti Presbytery, and Ga West Presbytery—because of their size, influence, and strategic locations—must serve as key drivers of the church’s numerical and spiritual expansion.

He emphasised that the combined strength of these Presbyteries places them in a unique position to significantly advance the Church’s long‑term growth agenda. For this reason, he called on all leaders and members—Ministers, Catechists, Presbyters, group executives, and congregants—to renew their commitment to personal evangelism and intentional discipleship.

Drawing inspiration from the global Church, Rt. Rev. Dr. Opare Kwakye cited the example of Christians in South Korea, where believers have cultivated a culture of daily witnessing. “The Church in Korea is growing in leaps and bounds because members have been trained to share the Gospel wherever they find themselves,” he said.

He encouraged Presbyterians to adopt a similar lifestyle, making evangelism not an occasional programme but a natural expression of their faith. The Moderator reminded members that every Presbyterian has a responsibility to contribute to the growth of the church and the expansion of God’s Kingdom.

He expressed confidence that with renewed zeal, intentional outreach, and active participation from the entire membership, the Presbyterian Church of Ghana will make significant progress toward its long‑term mission goals.
