Moderator applauds NUPS-G UPSA
The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, has commended the NUPS‑G chapter of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) for their remarkable evangelistic work in the Obom area of the Ga West Presbytery.
The Moderator gave the commendation during his pastoral visit to Obom, where he received a briefing at the Gethsemane Congregation, on the ongoing NUPS‑G Missions Week, which has seen 65 student missionaries deployed to Obom for a week‑long outreach programme.
He praised the students for their dedication, sacrifice, and passion for soul‑winning, describing their effort as a shining example of youthful commitment to the Great Commission. He noted that the presence of young Presbyterians in rural and peri‑urban communities strengthens the church’s mission mandate and inspires congregations to renew their zeal for evangelism.
The Moderator highlighted that the work of NUPS‑G aligns with the church’s broader vision under Agenda 2 Million and the Bicentennial Church Planting Initiative, both of which rely heavily on vibrant evangelistic activity and youth involvement.
As a gesture of encouragement and support, Rt. Rev. Dr. Opare Kwakye donated GHS 10,000 to the mission team to assist with logistics, welfare, and outreach activities. He assured the students of the church’s continuous support and prayed for God’s protection and fruitfulness in their ministry.
Leaders of the NUPS‑G UPSA Mission Team expressed gratitude for the Moderator’s visit and support, noting that his presence had greatly motivated the students. They reaffirmed their commitment to advancing evangelism, discipleship, and community engagement wherever the church sends them.
The Moderator ended by urging the entire church to continue supporting youth missions, describing the students as “a vital force in the future of the PCG’s witness and growth.”
